Sabiya Amanat, DDS – Pediatric Dentistry
Dr. Sabiya Amanat leads our Pediatric Dental Department and brings over 15 years of pediatric experience to our practice. She loves working with children of all ages, from infants to teens, and teaches them the importance of good dental care starting at an early age.
In 1992 Dr. Amanat earned her BA degree in Anthropology from Barnard College and went on to obtain her dental degree in 1996 from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. She then began training at Long Island Jewish Schneider’s Children’s Hospital and earned her specialty certificate in Pediatric Dentistry, with a focus on special needs and medically compromised children. While Dr. Amanat practiced private dentistry, she also served as an attending dentist at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine from 1999 to 2008, and as an active member of the school’s admissions committee from 2003 to 2007.
Because Dr. Amanat is also a mother, she understands the concerns and questions that parents and their children bring to her office. She will support you and your child along the entire dental treatment process, providing excellent specialized care throughout. Dr. Amanat’s goal is to help your child understand that dental visits can be fun and exciting adventures, and that oral health is an important part of an everyday routine. She encourages questions from parents and children alike and is sensitive to your needs. Because Dr. Amanat’s passion is to develop a caring relationship with your child, exams and procedures often go smoothly, which helps in the diagnosis and treatment of cavities in the early stages, often making treatment much easier.
Dr. Amanat has lived in Long Island and Manhattan most of her life and enjoys spending time with her 3 sons on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. Her other loves include traveling and running.
